Answer:
I use a long overnight pad at night too, and I still have a leak or two sometimes, but not every night.. I feel sorry for you!
Since you say you use a super tamon AND a pad, and that it lasts for a long time (The average is 2-7 days, mine is 6) you should probably talk to your Mom and she can set you up to get checked out by a doc. If you have a really long and heavy period you can get anemia (iron deficiency) and get really tired out and stuff.
The thing that I can tell you IS normal, is having had 5 months in between your first and second period. For up to 2 years after you start it can be irregular, your hormones just have to balance out.

So to sum it all up - you're probably fine but just cursed with a heavier and longer period than most women. From my research you are still in the normal range. Even in that case, since it sounds like it probably controls your life for those 8 days every month, you should go to the doc and see what options you have, like birth control. If you go on bc it will help your period be regulated and lighter, with a predictable cycle. Some of them even make you only have like 3 periods a year. So you should definitely look into that with your mom.
Best of luck!!
adjust the positioning of your pad to accommodate the leakage. you might also want to try super plus tampons on days that you are flooding. I've never had a period last 8 days, but if you're really concerned you may talk to your mom and possible see a doctor. i got my first period when i was ten, but age varies. it is very common though for your period to show up for the first time then stop and show up again a few months later. no worries there
1. Simply move the pad back farther so it doesn't leak out the back.
2. Are you inserting the tampon correctly? Read the insert inside the box or watch an animation online. Or maybe you just have a heavy flow and need super plus tampons.
3. Yes, you're perfectly fine. Everyone starts at different times; and for the first two years or so of menstruating, your periods may be irregular.
4. Yes. Some last for 4 days, some last for 8. Depends on the person and this may even be part of the irregular periods stated in #3.
5. Relax about it. :)
You're definitely having very heavy periods. And a couple of things you're saying makes me think that your hormones may not be balanced. For one, 16 is a little late to get your first period...not unheard of...but late. Second, 5 months between periods is a LONG time. I had that happen to me in HS and later (much later) found out just how screwed up my hormones were.

A period lasting for 8 days at your age is not uncommon. Some girls have it lucky and their periods only last for 3-4 days. I wish. Mine would last for almost 2 weeks at your age...again hormonal imbalance.

You might want to talk to your mom and have her take you to the doctor. I had to with my daughter at your age because her period wouldn't stop. It was worth it to find a solution. Good luck.

And take some iron. You're bleeding heavily enough to be getting anemic.
1. OK is it leaks then some times i would stick some tissue and put it were the pad does not reach and move the pad a bite up so it is were Ur butt crack is.

2. i dont know about that cuz i never used one

3. well kind of but it is supposed to happen every once or two months.

4. it is totally normal some times i have it for 10 days

5. well that's all but i hope my advise help u
Please go and see the gyn. Also don't use any tampons over night, especially the super size. If it is over 6 hours in your body, you can very likely get a toxic shock syndrome, wich is very dangerous.
1) If you have the longest pads already, try positioning it a bit further back than it is "supposed" to go. You're probably spending most of the night on your back and it's just flowing in that direction.
2) I have this problem the first few days of my period as well. We're just super heavy flowing people. Change as often as needed as use the most absorbent products for your flow.
3) Yes, this is normal...it may take a year or two to get "regular" monthly periods
4) For some people, yes
5) It is OK to use a tampon and a pad together. You can go up to 8 hours on a tampon (if your flow is light enough). Always remember to remove the last tampon when your period ends. Heating pads help a great deal if you have cramps.
See a Doctor. Not because you are in real danger but because there are simple medical solutions for the issues you are having. Alot of Women go on Birth Control just for the sole purpose of controlling heavy and irregular periods.
