Pads or tampons?

is it ok to use a tampon on ur first period? an dwhich r better and y? thx
Answer:
its ok but make sure you use the lightest possible...using a super tampon on a light day can create a higher risk of TSS=Toxic Shock Syndrome...that information is on teh little instructions that come with tampons. pads are flat out safer to use though... for tampons i like Tampax Pearl..and always ultra thin for pads...they arent as bulky but give just as much protection as a maxi.and yes plastic applicators are much easier to use and insert..lol
its perfectly ok. the plastic applicators are much easier to use ESPECIALLY for a first timer. they make super little ones too for younger girls who aren't accustomed to wearer larger tampons.
it's ok to use a tampon on your first period. i prefer tampons because you never even know they are there.
I use tampons but let me tell ya...you're going to have one hell of a time getting that in there if you are a virgin (which I am assuming if its your first period).

I would say go with Pads until you are comfortable with trying tampons. There is no comparison between the 2.
i dont have mine yet coz i am only 13 i say pad easier
pads.
most women now a days like to wear tampons=they however ,leave blood behind ,when you pull them out =do you really want to take a chance on getting infection from them
I prefer tampons becuase you cant feel them and pads make me feel dirty down there. It's okay to use both i started with pads but switch to tampons quickly after.
I felt at my first time the best to use was pads because they were easier and more comfy for newgoers. I just think they are better all around and still use them unless I go swimming. Also pads are cleaner and can stay down there A LOT longer!
It is perfectly alright to use a tampon during your first period. I prefer tampons, but that is a personal preference and plenty of girls prefer pads, especially for the first couple of years that they have their periods. Every girl is different.

Also consider options other than pads and tampons. Here is a description of a few of them and their benefits: http://www.youngwomenshealth.org/alterna...
i love pads.i dont like tampons for some reason and on ur first time u should wear a pad
it's perfectly fine to use a tampon, but it might be a little tricky getting it in the first time

try the ones with the plastic applicator and the SLIM FIT size- you'll have the best luck with those

you could even have someone else that you feel comfortable with try to help you with getting it in.

if it doesn't work just stick with a pad
You should start out with pads, especially if you're a virgin because you aren't used to those sensations yet, but DEFINITELY work your way up to tampons. They are so much easier and neater. Pads can be messy and bulky and don't offer the 99% leakage protection that tampons do.

It's a gradual thing though. I remember when I first tried to use a tampon it took me a couple tries. So don't get discouraged if it's not as easy as it sounds. (Just make sure you aren't super dry down there because it will be nearly impossible to get it in. Use a wipe or a wet wash cloth to solve this problem)

Best of Luck to You!
i personally am more comfortable with pads
It is okay if you want. They can be hard to get in at first. Like, the others have said...especially if you are a virgin. I'd advise you to start with pads, but experiment with tampons if you want to use tampons. Practice in the privacy of your bathroom at home. Use pads when you're out and can change those quickly. When you get used to tampons, then you can switch to those if you want. Neither one is better than the other. It's all about preference. I prefer tampons because they feel cleaner. With pads, I feel wet and dirty down there. You can feel the blood coming out which makes me feel like I need a bath. Pads, even the thinnest ones, feel like diapers to me. There is nothing wrong with pads though. Just experiment with both and then you can decide which one you like better.
WEAR PADS UNTIL YOU THINK YOU ARE READY FOR TAMPONS...they make smaller ones now and threre plastic applicator for almost every brand...but being a virgin and using tampons is sometimes weird...it took me some time to actually get one in...
si!

TAMPONS all the way, pads are soo like diapers ew .. lol

umm yes u can use a tampon for ur first period but they advice that you dont becuase of the chances of TSS. [ toxic shock syndrom]

best of luck. my wishes to ya.!!
sure its okay. as long as its not too light. the first year and a half of my period i used pads, and they were so gross and uncomfortable. then one day, my freshman year of highschool, i had an embarassing leak (through the pad), and from then on i used tampons. i trust those better!
